Wander down to the Funk Zone for wine tasting. Santa Barbara's urban wine district is one of the best ways to spend an afternoon, with tasting rooms, breweries, and sunny patios all within walking distance.
If you want to get outside first, the trail to Inspiration Point is a classic - about three miles round trip with views of the city, the Channel Islands, and the Pacific that don't get old. Or skip the trail entirely and head to Stearns Wharf for a slower morning by the water.
Either way, be back downtown with enough time to reset before the show.
